No, these aren't this year's birthday pictures. They're from this time last year, when we were just arriving back to Blue Lake from OZ Farm. As I wrote Isaiah in his birthday letter, we have had so many adventures in his 4 years, he will be a fully trained adventurer. I think the children spirits fully caught up with their bodies quite some time ago, but we adults take longer...slower spirits? denser bodies? more to catch up?
This birthday season, though, we arrived more fully into our community, hosting 14 children Saturday at the nature center we belong to that is a balm to my soul and bringing 2 rounds of cupcakes to friends today. Isaiah is a connector who makes friends wherever he goes...(a trait that serves him well in our wanderings! (Note the Steelers shirt...he chooses the short-sleeve sporting duds for any weather or occasion.)
This birthday letter features the tree in our backyard complete with feeder our guardian angel Larry brought to us with the cardinal we first glimpsed eating from it on Christmas morning. (I'll tell you more about Larry another day...his worth his own post!) Resting next to are a new birthday crown and a photo of the new golf set awaiting Isaiah at Seabrook Island along with a lesson!
From a peaceful (if whiny) homebirth to a sweet community to farm life to Minnesota winter, we have been so blessed to know, love, and live with Isaiah...foodie, sports fanatic, fashionista, compassionate boy, and of course teacher to his lucky parents!

I hope the party was a great success! Much love to you all and Happy Happy Birthday to Isaiah!
xoxo, K and family
